The Portuguese tenor Rodrigo Carreto is a rising presence on the international opera and concert stage, recognized for his "stylistic clarity and expressive depth". Currently based in Zurich, he was a laureate of the 11th edition of the Le Jardin des Voix academy (2023/24), a milestone that led to his debut at the BBC Proms, Teatro alla Scala, and Lincoln Center, as well as the Romanian Athenaeum, National Auditorium of Music in Madrid, and Palau de les Arts in Valencia. Praised by Scherzo as a "magnificent" performer with a voice that is "flexible, melodious, and full of nuance," he is establishing himself as a sought-after interpreter of Mozart and the principal tenor works of the Baroque.
Highlights of the 2026/27 season center on Bach repertoire across Europe, including performing as the Evangelist in the St. Matthew Passion with the Irish Baroque Orchestra, a return to the Gulbenkian Orchestra for the same work, as well as performances of the Mass in B minor and the Christmas Oratorio. Further season highlights include Campra’s Requiem with Ensemble Correspondances at both the Utrecht Early Music Festival and the Royal Chapel of Versailles, Mozart’s C minor Mass with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Navarra, Bomtempo’s Requiem with the Orquestra RTVE, and Handel’s Messiah with the Capricornus Consort Basel.
